The Oklahoma Highway Patrol responded to what it initially reported as a fatal crash on the Will Rogers Turnpike-(watch video) eastbound at the Vinita Exit.

According to troopers, a semi or a box truck drove off the overpass and may have exploded, with a portion of the truck hanging down onto US-60 in Vinita. At the time, OHP said this was a fatality crash but has since released new information, saying the driver ran away from the scene with minor injuries.

Vinita Police officers tracked the driver down three hours later, finding him in a nearby creek bed. Officers say he surrendered quickly and is in custody.

OHP will take over the investigation.

The Will Rogers Turnpike eastbound exit ramp to Vinita (MM 289) and US-60 under the Will Rogers Turnpike are now open, per OHP.
