Oklahoma County reports West Nile virus cases; officials advise on prevention measures

Health officials in Oklahoma have confirmed two cases of West Nile virus in Oklahoma County.

West Nile virus is currently the leading cause of illness from mosquitoes in the U.S.

Symptoms of West Nile virus include body aches, joint pains, vomiting, diarrhea, and/or rash.

The OKC County Health Department recommends using insect repellent, keeping windows closed when possible, and draining standing water to protect against West Nile virus.
