In February of 2024, PCPD Officers responded to a residential burglary in Ponca City. In that investigation, the victim told Officers that several thousand dollars worth of property had been taken. The property included several televisions, handheld electronics, clothing, Native American jewelry and a safe. Investigators processed the scene and located a hat that the victim was confident did not belong to anyone who lived at the residence.
Investigators processed that hat and later sent their evidence to OSBI for analysis. Eventually, OSBI notified the PCPD that the DNA from the hat belonged to a subject in Ponca City, 31 year old Edgar Martinez-Lopez. This information was confirmed by OSBI through CODIS (Combined DNA Index System). The victim in this case has confirmed that they do not know Mr. Martinez-Lopez and they have never given him permission to be in their home.
In addition to this case, Mr. Martinez-Lopez has active warrants out of Kay County for previous burglary charges. If you know where to find Mr. Martinez-Lopez, please contact the Ponca City Police Department. You may also be eligible for a reward and you can remain anonymous by contacting Ponca City Crime Stoppers at 580.762.5100.
