Scholarships available for those planning to work with individuals with disabilities

The Kay County Council for the Opportunity Center is sponsoring two scholarships.

The Nathan M. and Bette G. Lee Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a Kay County high school graduating senior pursuing a career working with people with developmental disabilities.

The applicant must be majoring in special education or a related field such as speech, physical, or occupational therapy. The amount of this scholarship is $1000, $500 each semester for one year.

Information concerning this scholarship has been sent to counselors at all Kay County high schools. Applications for this scholarship must be received by March 1, 2020.

The Kay County Council for the Opportunity Center Scholarship is awarded to a Kay County, OK, resident and/or Kay County, OK, high school graduate qualified as a college junior, senior or graduate student in special education or a related field such as physical, occupational or speech therapy.

Applicants must be attending an accredited college and must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours. The scholarship amount is $500, $250 each semester for one year. Applications must be received by June 1, 2020.
