Kay County election dates set

NEWKIRK — The Kay County Election Board has announced election dates for February and April 2020.
Kay County Election Board Secretary Cheryl Howard said that on Feb. 11, 2020, the City of Tonkawa will have a special election. Voters will determine whether to amend and modify an ordinance regarding a 1 percent sales tax to be used for capital expenditures for the benefit the City of Tonkawa. If approved, the funds raised by the tax would  finance municipal pool improvements and operations for the pool.
A special bond issue election is also set for Feb. 11 for Newkirk School District 125 in  the amount of $275,000, for the purpose of purchasing transportation for the school district.
On April 7, 2020, Blackwell will hold a municipal election for Mayor as well as for the Blackwell School Board. Blackwell voters will decide between mayoral  candidates Glenn Cox and T.J. Greenfield. They also will choose between Phil James Green and Tami Bickford  for the Blackwell Public Schools Board Office No. 5.
