Bryce Thompson Picks KU

Both Oklahoma Sooner and Oklahoma State Cowboy basketball fans tuned in with some mixture of nerves and excitement this morning to CBSHQ online to see the top in-state prospect make his decision.

Five-star combo guard Bryce Thompson from Booker T. in Tulsa made his decision live on the online streaming platform and he wasted no time in unzipping his jacket to reveal a blue and red shirt.

OSU coach Mike Boynton was the longest in the recruitment process for Thompson, including an in-home visit late on in the process. Thompson also made an unofficial visit to Stillwater after the Cade Cunningham commitment to see the Cowboys host Oral Roberts. The Pokes won that game and the student section showered praise directed at Thompson.

The prevailing Kansas Jayhawks had several cards that the Sooner-state schools couldn’t match. From being a true basketball blue-blood to the relationship of Bill Self with Thompson’s father, whom Self coached at Tulsa, KU had the inside track and secured his commitment fewer than 24 hours ahead of National Signing Day.

Boynton got plenty of credit from OSU and KU fans alike with his Twitter reaction.

The Cowboys will turn their attention to JT Thor, a 6-8 power forward out of Georgia to add to Cunningham and 4-star prospect Rondel Walker.
