Big 12 Media Poll

In case you missed the news – the members of the media have ranked the preseason Big 12 teams and the results were released yesterday afternoon.

Not a complete shock that Oklahoma took home 68 of 77 first place votes and was comfortably the favorite heading into the year.

Texas received the remaining nine first place votes and was in second by a wide margin.

Also a lot separating the third team from the rest of the pack that was Iowa State. The Cyclones had 115 points between themselves and the fourth-ranked TCU Horned Frogs.

That’s where it got close. TCU in fourth and Baylor in sixth were separated by just 21 points. Sandwiched in between those two was Oklahoma State in fifth.

Another big drop off in points let to the bottom four in the conference, all of whom have rookie head coaches.

Matt Wells and his Texas Tech squad was seventh, West Virginia with Neal Brown eighth, Chris Klieman and K-State ninth and Kansas with Les Miles in last place.

John Deere Classic – Round 1 Preview

As promised over to the John Deere Classic – Viktor Hovland just getting going about a half hour ago. He is one of the favorites as the lines have moved slightly. He plays rounds one and two with another tabbed for a strong weekend in Collin Morikawa. That group is playing the back first.

Going off even earlier this morning was the trio of OSU alum also off No. 10. Matthew Wolff has been steady thus far – all pars on the scorecard while Kevin Tway bogeyed the first and sits at one-over through three. Charles Howell III has birdied the third and is one-under.

Hunter Mahan and Peter Uihlein also have just gone off with Talor Gooch coming up a little bit later at 12:20 this afternoon.

The John Deere Classic is played at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois.
