Kay County Health Department Holding Additional Tetanus Clinic

Ponca City Now - May 15, 2019 4:24 pm

Due to additional need, Kay County Health Department will continue offering tetanus immunizations for Kay County residents affected by the recent storms.

A special clinic will be held on Friday, May 17, 2019, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Fairgrounds Event Center at 800 South Main Street in Blackwell, OK. There will be no fee assessed.

Tetanus boosters are recommended for adults and adolescents every 10 years. However, if a person experiences a wound that could have been contaminated by dirt, flood water, etc., it should be repeated if it has been longer than 5 years from the last tetanus injection.

Children under the age of 10 years will need to present to their primary care provider or the local health department to determine their need of vaccine.

For more information please contact the Kay County Health Department at (580) 363-5520 or (580) 762-1641.
