Lawana “Polly” Eaton

November 19, 1934 – February 19, 2019

Lawana “Polly” Eaton, resident of Marland, Oklahoma passed away on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at her home. She was 84 years old. Polly was born on November 19, 1934 in Marland, Oklahoma to her parents, Charles Clifford Edmonds and Viola Mae (Case) Edmonds. Polly married Farrel D. Eaton on December 1, 1951 in Marland, Oklahoma.

Polly loved spending time with family and friends and was always ready with a smile and a hug for everyone. She was avid gardener who loved tending her flowers beds and gardens with an occasional trip to the pond to fish. She and Farrel traveled extensively throughout the US and abroad. She was always ready to help on the farm whether it was milking cows or running the tractors, and she always had meals ready for the hired hands who sometimes numbered more than 30. She passed her love of cooking down to her kids and grandkids through time spent together in the kitchen, never minding the messes made. She and her grandkids looked forward to baking a birthday cake for Jesus every Christmas! She came to know her Savior, Jesus Christ at an early age and was always ready to share her faith with everyone. That strong faith was only increased when she and Farrel and her sister Carolyn were severely injured in an airplane accident. She and her sister suffered multiple broken bones, including broken backs and damaged spine cords, and were told that they would never walk again. They both did for many years! They were often invited to share their experiences with others who had received similar injuries. She would say “What God has taken away, he has replaced with many other good things and opportunities. There is always hope if you want to do something bad enough.”. She was an inspiration to many! She even overcame her injuries to successfully show her quarter horse, Sneaky Bear and win the Oklahoma State Championship.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Aline Corbin, Carolyn Myers, and Cathy Yount. Polly is survived by her husband, Farrel of Marland, son, Johnny Eaton of Marland, daughter, Judy (Eaton) Graves and husband Scott Graves of Marland, sister, Freda (Edmonds) Harris of Ponca City, brother, Charles C. Edmonds and wife Karen Edmonds of Marland, as well as two grandchildren, Jaci Flynt and husband Casey Flynt and Steven Graves, and two great-grandchildren, Kieran and Ellie Flynt.

A family visitation will be held on Sunday, February 24, 2019 from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm at Trout Funeral Home in Ponca City. A funeral ceremony for Polly will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, February 25, 2019 at the Central Baptist Church in Ponca City with Pastor John Waterloo officiating.
