Ponca City Now - February 4, 2014 6:32 am

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) – Forecasters say some areas of northern Oklahoma could see up to 10 inches of snow as a winter storm pummels the state.

The winter storm warning is in effect until 6 p.m. Tuesday for northern Oklahoma, including the Enid, Cherokee, Alva and Ponca City areas. Forecasters say that part of the state could see 6 to 10 inches of snow.

Travel is discouraged because of the heavy snow.

The National Weather Service says a large section of the state could see 3 to 6 inches of snow Tuesday or freezing rain. A winter weather advisory is in effect for most areas until 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Many schools canceled classes Tuesday, including the Oklahoma City district.
