City of Newkirk made aware of phone scam

The City of Newkirk’s been made aware of a phone scam where a live person is posing as an employee for Evergy and asking for past due electric bills to be paid or service will be disconnected. This is a scam. Please disregard these phone calls. The city has contacted Evergy and made them aware of the scam.
