Louisville hires VanGorder

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) – Louisville coach Bobby Petrino has hired Brian VanGorder as the Cardinals’ defensive coordinator.

The 35-year veteran has worked seven in the NFL and has been head coach at Georgia Southern and Wayne State and a coordinator at Georgia, Auburn and Notre Dame.

VanGorder spent last season as defensive analyst at Oklahoma State.
