High school coach ‘critical’ after being shot by attorney
VINITA, Okla. (AP) – Oklahoma’s top law enforcement agency is investigating the shooting of a high school coach who is in critical condition.
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation says the shooting happened Friday night at a Vinita home, where attorney Karl Jones and high school coach Jason Sauer began arguing. The bureau says Jones eventually shot Sauer several times.
Sauer was taken to a Tulsa hospital. The 57-year-old Jones was arrested at the scene and booked into the Craig County jail on a complaint of shooting with intent to kill. Jail records don’t say whether Jones had an attorney who can comment on the allegations.
Authorities didn’t say what started the argument.
Vinita is about 66 miles (106 kilometers) northeast of Tulsa.
