Following high school, Steve was drafted in to the U.S. Army where he served as a medic, serving in Vietnam. Glenda Brown became his wife and lifelong partner on July 19, 1968 celebrating 44 years of marriage before her passing in 2012. After their marriage, they moved to Salem, MA to become an apprentice golf pro with the PGA. However, Oklahoma was his home, so Steve moved to Ardmore and served as the Assistant Golf Pro at the Dornick Hills Country Club. Continuing his golf career, Steve then moved to Chanute, Kansas where he was the Head Golf Pro. After his time as a golf pro, in the early 1980’s Steve began selling Izod Lacoste clothing to golf courses around the region, a sales position that would last over 20 years. In 1991 Steve and Glenda purchased Ody’s Bar on East Lake Road, continuing a heritage to this day. Steve was a unique and lovable character, full of life and passion for getting the most out of it, as he saw fit. His personality was large, outgoing and always ready to have fun. Often looking out for others, Steve was not a self centered man. He used his time and efforts often to host community events at his bar and arrange golf tournaments for benevolent causes.
