Gov. Mary Fallin on Monday issued an Executive Proclamation calling for a special election to be held to fill the vacancy in the Kay County Board of Commissioners District 1 seat. The vacancy is a result of  the death of Commissioner Vance Johnson.

The filing period for the special election will be July 10, 11 and 12 at the Kay County Election Board.

The Special Primary Election will be held Sept. 12 and the Special General Election will be Nov. 14. In the event a Special Primary Election is not needed, the Special General Election will be Sept. 12.
