Three Ponca City officers involved in a downtown shooting on Dec. 21 have been cleared by District Attorney Brian Hermanson, and the shooting was found to be justified.

About 6 a.m.. Dec. 21, the officers responded to a call of a delivery man being assaulted at the Valero convenience store at Oak Street and Grand Avenue. Officers found the assault suspect, Ian Shea King, 31, armed with a sword.

About a block east of the original assault,  King raised  the sword, advanced toward officers and was shot multiple times. King died at the scene.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation was called in to investigate the shooting. After reviewing the report submitted by agents of the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation,  Hermanson cleared all three officers and found the shooting to be justified. No charges will be filed against the officers and the case is closed.

The Ponca City Police Department is completing the internal/administrative review of the incident, and will likely complete that review this week, the Ponca City Police Department reported.
