Crime Stoppers approve two rewards in November

The Ponca City Area Crime Stoppers board met Thursday morning and approved rewards for two callers during the month of November.

Lieutenant Richard Evans serves on the Crime Stoppers board as liaison for the Police Department and wants to encourage callers that provided information to call back in to see if they have been approved for a reward.

“There were a number of callers for the two surveillance pictures we released in November,” Evans said. “The callers that provide the most accurate and detailed information the quickest, that leads to an arrest and or the recovery of stolen property, are approved for rewards.”

When a tipster has information and wants to be considered for a reward, they call (580) 762-5100. After the information is given, the tipster is given an identification number. The call is completely anonymous. The identification number is what the tipster is required to call back in with to claim their reward. Rewards are approved at the PCACS board meeting on the first Thursday of each month.

A press release circulated on Nov. 9 included surveillance pictures of suspects entering Wal-Mart to use a stolen credit card. That led to a tipster providing information with the suspects’ names and addresses. This caller’s information led to the recovery of stolen property from four burglaries, including the one featured in the release. This case began with a purse, wallet and contents taken from a parked vehicle in the 900 block of East Grand on Nov. 3.

A press release circulated on Nov. 15 also included surveillance picture of a female suspect as she entered Wal-Mart in Ponca City. This case began with a theft from a vehicle in Arkansas City of a wallet and debit card sometime between Nov. 10 and 12.

If you were a caller and provided information on either of the above cases, call (580) 767-0376 Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and noon or 1 to 5 p.m. to claim your reward.
