Obituary for Kay Sweetser

Kay Sweetser of Blackwell, Oklahoma, passed away on Wednesday afternoon, November 6, 2013, in the Blackwell Regional Hospital at the age of 74 years.

Kay Sweetser was born on August 27, 1939, in Blackwell to Harry Kenneth and Carmen (Erickson) Balderston. She grew up attending Cooper Rural School and Blackwell High School graduating with the class of 1957. During her senior year she married Ned Sweetser on October 12, 1956, in Miami, Oklahoma, and they settled in Blackwell where she served her family as a homemaker. She later worked for nine years in the office of Osler Clinic in Blackwell before returning to the home. She was a member of the Blackwell Church of Christ. She enjoyed designing greeting cards on the computer, various handcrafts, cooking and baking, and her family.

She is survived by her husband of fifty-seven years, Ned Sweetser of Blackwell; a daughter, Kathy Tolbert and husband Dale of Lindsborg, Kansas; a son, Kevin Sweetser and wife Shauna of Garland, Texas; four grandchildren, Amy Bokma of Lindsborg, Kansas, Tami Echeverria of Liberty, Missouri, Shelby McEntire of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Colton Sweetser of Garland, Texas; and three great grandchildren, Tyler Bokma of Lindsborg, Kansas, and Gabriela and Alexander Echeverria of Liberty, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 9th in the Blackwell Church of Christ with Lanny Jobe of the Blackwell Church of Christ officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olive Cemetery in Nardin, Oklahoma.

Serving as casketbearers will be Rodger Bokma, Xavier Echeverria, Colton Sweetser, Daniel McEntire, Greg Sixkiller and Dale Tolbert.

A memorial has been established in her honor with the Blackwell Church of Christ or a charity of choice in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
