Moore and Kuteyi earn NOC player of the week honors

TONKAWA — M avericks Head Women’s Basketball Coach Greg Krause announces the Northern Oklahoma College women’s basketball player of the week and Men’s Head Coach Donnie Jackson announces the men’s player of the week.

The women’s player of the week is Jamee Moore, a sophomore from Oklahoma City and Putnam City High School graduate; and the men’s player of the week is Kevin Kuteyi a sophomore from Lanham, Md.

“For the three games last week, Jamee averaged 21.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.3 steals and 3.7 assists per game. Jamee has been providing us with outstanding leadership during a very demanding schedule. She’s fulfilling her role as one of our primary players,” Krause said.

The Lady Mavs lost two and won one game last week. They beat Murray State in double overtime 112-106; and lost to NOC Enid 87-70 and Pratt (Kan.) 78-74. They are 8-7 overall and 1-3 in conference play as of Dec. 8.

The women’s next game is against Pratt (Kan.) at Pratt, Jan. 2, 2015. Their next home game will be Jan. 8, when they take on conference foe Carl Albert at 6 p.m., followed by the men at 8 p.m.

“In three games this week, Kevin helped lead the team to two wins by scoring 45 total points, including two 19 point games. He is starting to be more aggressive offensively, and it has propelled the team. Kevin works extremely hard and is a blue collar guy,” said Jackson.

The NOC men’s team stands at 9-4 overall and 2-2 in conference as of Dec. 8. Last week they won two and lost one game. They beat Murray state 74-53 and Oklahoma Wesleyan 107-65, and lost to NOC Enid 89-79.

The men will travel to Arkansas City to participate in the Cowley Classic Dec. 12 and 13. They play Butler Community College Friday and Pratt (Kan.) Saturday. Both games are at 5 p.m.

They will travel to Wichita Dec. 31 to play Barton Community College in a scrimmage game, and travel to Parsons, Kan. Jan. 5, 2015, to take on Labette Community College at 7 p.m. Their next home game is at 8 p.m. Jan. 8, 2015, when they will host Carl Albert.
