4 Feb 2021 Update: OSDH Vaccine Scheduler Portal

 

The Vaccine Scheduler Portal is operational to allow eligible Oklahomans to schedule their COVID-19 vaccination. OSDH will provide an end-of-day update on progress following any media availability or press conferences.

 

Updates as of 8 a.m. on Wednesday, February 3: 

• 668,221 Oklahomans have registered through the portal to receive notifications on eligibility.
  • Phase 1: 21,043
  • Phase 2 (currently eligible groups): 381,907
  • 133,566 appointments have been scheduled by Oklahomans eligible to receive the vaccine
    • More appointments will continue to be added throughout the week, so OSDH recommends that people continue checking the system on an ongoing basis.
• As of February 2 at 12:00 p.m., 96,215 Oklahomans have completed the full vaccine series, receiving both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. 
  • 372,053 Oklahomans, approximately 12% of the state’s population over 16 years of age, have received their first dose.
  • From last week to this week, we anticipate there will be a 9% increase in vaccine supply, opening accessibility to second doses.
• The number of new cases and COVID-19 related hospitalizations in Oklahoma are decreasing, with new cases down 49% since the 7-day average peak on 1/13 and hospitalizations down 43% since the last peak count on 1/5.
  • This progress is attributable in part to distribution of the vaccine, but largely to the actions Oklahomans are taking.
  • We highly encourage everyone to continue to follow the 3 W’s: wear a mask, wash your hands and watch your distance.
• Oklahoma has opted into the Federal Retail Pharmacy Program for COVID-19 Vaccination. 
  • This program is a collaboration between the federal government, states and 21 national pharmacy partners and independent pharmacy networks to provide COVID-19 vaccines to eligible individuals.
  • The program will begin next week. At that time, Oklahomans will be able to schedule vaccine appointments directly with their local pharmacy.
    • Please note that these appointments are scheduled via the pharmacy, not the Vaccine Scheduler Portal. 
    • It’s important to remember that appointment availability at your local pharmacy will be dependent on vaccine supply and that appointments may not be immediately available.
• OSDH will be partnering with school districts across the state to host vaccine clinics for teachers and education staff aged 65 and older. 
  • The state is still focusing on the 65+ priority group within phase 2 of the vaccine plan who are at heightened risk of severe illness from COVID-19.
  • In order to protect education staff and keep students engaged in school, we will partner with districts across the state to host vaccination clinics.
• As we move through the plan, many people are scheduling their second dose of the vaccine. 
  • Because there are a number of avenues for scheduling your vaccine appointment, including the vaccine portal, local providers and county health departments, the instructions you received about scheduling your second dose may vary.
    • However, a good general rule to follow is this:
      • If you received specific instructions to schedule your second dose from the facility where you received your first, you should follow those instructions. If they gave you an appointment scheduling card, for example, you should follow the instructions on the card.
      • If you DIDN’T receive instructions after your first dose appointment, you should register or re-register using the Vaccine Scheduler Portal to get your second dose appointment.
      • We always recommend you be your own best patient advocate and ask during your first dose appointment what the best next steps are for your second dose.

• Current priority groups that are eligible for vaccine appointments as part of Phase 2 of the vaccine plan: 
  • Healthcare workers
    • Expanded healthcare worker group such as allied health fields and general outpatient health service (i.e. behavioral health, dentists)
  • First responders
  • Oklahomans aged 65+
