Pittsburg County oil field explosion reported

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports several troopers assisted the Pittsburg County Sheriff’s Office with an oil field explosion.

At 12:35 p.m. the Highway Patrol reported numerous injuries at a well site three to four miles west of Quinton and State Highway 31. SH31 was closed at Holt Road west of Blocker.

The Quinton Police Department said reports indicate a head blew off a gas well. A medical helicopter responded, a dispatcher said.

 

At 1:33 p.m., the Patrol reported all Highway Patrol personnel were released from traffic control and the roadway has been re-opened.

Pittsburg County Sheriff Office and Emergency management are still on scene and reported injured parties have been transported to an area hospital to be treated for injuries. At this time, the number of injured and the extent of  their injuries is not known.
