(STILLWATER, OKLAHOMA – 06/25/2021) — On Thursday, 6/24/21, at 8:20 p.m., Stillwater Police Department officers responded to 2001 N Perkins for a vehicle versus pedestrian accident involving a child.

When the officers arrived on scene they took over lifesaving efforts from witnesses until Stillwater Fire Department and LifeNet arrived on the scene.

The child, a two-year-old female, was transported to Stillwater Medical Center, where she was pronounced deceased.

The on-scene investigation found the driver stopped in a parking lot to briefly speak with people standing nearby.

The child crawled under the stopped vehicle in its driving path. The driver did not know the child was under the vehicle when the driver started to drive away.

The driver immediately stopped once they realized they hit something and began lifesaving efforts on the child.
