PERKINS, Oklahoma –

Two OSU student-athletes are in the hospital after crashing on their way home from Cushing on Monday night.

Star wrestler A.J. Ferrari, and Cross country runner Isai Rodriguez were returning to Stillwater after a youth wrestling practice and crashed along Highway 33 near Perkins around 8 p.m.

OHP Troopers say it happened after Ferrari attempted to pass three cars and hit another vehicle before running off the road and rolling over several times.

According to officials, Ferrari was transported by helicopter to an Oklahoma City hospital. Ferrari, a defending NCAA champion, has non-life-threatening injuries. Rodriguez was taken by ambulance and treated for injuries that are also not life-threatening.

According to officials, no one else involved in the crash was seriously injured or killed.

Deputies said the cause of the crash was passing in a no-passing zone.
