Richard Coutre

(January 17, 1954 – February 12, 2017)

Rick Coutre, lovingly known as “Boo Boo” to his grandchildren, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 12, 2017 at Via Christi Saint Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, February 18, 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ponca City, Oklahoma with Father Carson Krittenbrink officiating.

He was born in Evanston, IL on January 17, 1954 to Ted and Ramona (Tufo) Coutre. Rick’s gift to others was that of service and giving. A life of service to his God, his family, his country, and anyone he found that just needed a little help in this life. Even as a young child, his mother said he could be found chasing after the mailman or the milkman to make sure they had a drink of water on a hot day.

Rick married Sherri Adkins on April 8, 1981 and they began their journey of 36 years together. Rick loved music, gardening, being with his grandchildren, and spoiling his fur babies. He was most comfortable quietly serving others. He served his country as Major Richard Coutre in the United States Army. This service took him to many areas of the world. Areas such as, Germany, Bosnia, Honduras, Iraq, and he also served stateside in a career of over 20 years. He served always in a leadership role and was very proud of his time serving his country.

Rick served his community as a member of St. Mary’s Parrish in PC, as a United States postal worker in Ponca City and the Blackwell area, and as a Dosin for the Tall Grass Prairie near Pawhuska, OK.

He loved music, it was a deep part of his life and as a young man he enjoyed spinning the vinyl as a “pilot of the airways”. He did so for several years at different radio stations. He was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan! Rick loved his family. He tried to never miss a grandchild’s ballgame and was always there to cheer them on. They were his life.

Rick will be missed dearly by his family, wife, Sherri, children, Jeremy Coutre, Crystal Coutre Ferguson (Scott), Isaac Coutre (Shannon), Zack Coutre, Ted Coutre, Kristen Flores (Albert), mother, Ramona Coutre, and his grandchildren, Owen Coutre, Braden Coutre, Rayce Ferguson, Pyper Ferguson, Ethan Coutre, Erin Coutre, Emercyn Coutre, Andrew Arechiga, Allison Arechiga, Abram Arechiga, and Carlos Arechiga. Brothers, Gary Coutre (Peggy), Chris Coutre (Colleen), Tony Coutre (Beth), and Mark Coutre (Peggy). Sisters, Mini Batson (Jim), and Nan Coutre. Father and mother in-law, Ron and Pat Adkins.

Rick was preceded in death by his father.
