Evelyn Serenia Jobe

(September 21, 1949 – February 10, 2017)

Evelyn Serenia Jobe of Blackwell, Oklahoma, passed away February 10, 2017, at her home at the age of 67 years.

Evelyn Serenia Jobe was born on September 21, 1949, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, to Edwin T. and Ila Geraldine (Cox) Stevens. At the age of three she moved with her family to Blackwell where she grew up attending Blackwell Public Schools. She graduated from Blackwell High School in 1968. Following her education she married Melvin Kinslow on March 29, 1969, in Dallas, Texas, and they settled in Texas where she served her family as a homemaker. In 1974 she returned to Blackwell and married James Hamilton on April 6, 1975, and they made Blackwell their home. While in Blackwell, she worked at Braum’s where she became the store manager. She also worked as a bartender for the Blackwell American Legion. Her husband preceded her in death on February 5, 1978. On April 23, 1988, she married Larry Jobe and they settled in Blackwell. He preceded her in death on July 20, 2006, and she continued to make Blackwell her home. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Blackwell. She enjoyed crocheting, fishing and camping.

She is survived by a daughter, Angel Kirk and husband Brian of Shawnee, Oklahoma; a son, T. C. Fetters and wife Ashley of Shawnee, Oklahoma; a step-daughter, Sabrina Blazer and husband Jimmy of Lamont, Oklahoma; a step-son, Andy Jobe and wife Dustie of Bixby, Oklahoma; three sisters, Teresa Suggs of Blackwell, Sharon Abernathy of Ponca City, and Rita McWilliams of Lamont; two brothers, Larry D. Stevens of Blackwell and Melvin Stevens and wife Linda of Garber, Oklahoma; and ten grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Sharon Hamilton; two sisters, Victoria Stevens and Geraldine Tipton; and four brothers, George Reese, John Stevens, Eddie Stevens and Merle Stevens.

A memorial service is planned for 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 16th at the Immanuel Baptist Church in Blackwell with Rev. Matt Smith and Rev. Andy Jobe officiating.

The family will be gathering for lunch at noon at the church.
